Terms of Use

Effective 27 October 2026

These terms apply when you use KiloTrip at kilotrip.app or in the KiloTrip apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. KiloTrip is run from Australia. By creating an account you agree to them. If you have a question, email hello@kilotrip.app.

What KiloTrip does

KiloTrip records your Tesla's trips automatically using Tesla's Fleet API, lets you mark each one as work or personal, and exports a logbook you can give your accountant. KiloTrip is a record-keeping tool. It is not tax, legal or financial advice. You are responsible for checking your logbook is accurate and complete, adding anything it missed, and for meeting the ATO's (or your own tax authority's) logbook rules.

Your account

You need an account to use KiloTrip. Give us a working email address, keep your password and sign-in methods secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and the Tesla you connect must be one you own or are allowed to use.

Subscription and billing

Your Tesla account and virtual key

When you connect your Tesla account you authorise KiloTrip to access your vehicle through Tesla's Fleet API, and you may be asked to add KiloTrip's virtual key to your car in the Tesla app. KiloTrip uses this access only to read the vehicle data it needs to log trips (such as location, odometer, gear and speed) and to set up that data feed. KiloTrip does not unlock, drive or otherwise control your car. You can remove KiloTrip's access at any time in your Tesla account or the Tesla app; trip logging stops when you do.

Acceptable use

Don't use KiloTrip to break the law, to track someone without their consent, or to access a vehicle or account that isn't yours. Don't try to break, overload, reverse engineer or get around the security of the service, and don't resell it. We may suspend an account that does.

Your data and privacy

Your trips belong to you. Trip locations and addresses are encrypted with a key unique to your account, and you can export or delete your data at any time. How we collect, use and protect your information is explained in our Privacy Statement.

Availability

KiloTrip depends on Tesla's servers, your car's connectivity and settings, and other services we don't control. Trips can be missed or recorded late if any of these are unavailable or change. We work to keep KiloTrip running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or record every trip. Check your logbook regularly.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings; this deletes your data as described in the Privacy Statement. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we stop offering KiloTrip. If we close KiloTrip for reasons other than a breach, we'll give you reasonable notice, time to export your logbook, and a pro-rata refund of any prepaid period we billed directly.

Our liability

Some rights under the Australian Consumer Law can't be excluded, and these terms don't try to. To the extent the law allows, KiloTrip is provided "as is"; we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss (including lost tax deductions, penalties or lost profits); and our total liability for any claim is limited to supplying the service again or the subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as KiloTrip changes. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app before they apply. If you keep using KiloTrip after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts of Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute.
